Volunteer
Southridge has lots of incredible volunteers who work together to see people served with dignity and lives transformed. We are always looking for people who want to live out these values in our community. Current volunteer opportunities include:
Kitchen Support – The shelter provides residents with 3 meals daily. Each meal is prepared by a group of dedicated volunteers, while supported by our kitchen staff. In addition to preparing the meal, volunteers also serve meals and have opportunities to engage with our residents throughout this process. No prior kitchen experience is required.
Weekly time commitment: 2 hours
Front Desk – We want to do our very best to provide a safe and welcoming environment. The first point of contact for residents, visitors and other volunteers is the person is working the front desk. Duties include answering the phone, welcoming newcomers into the shelter, responding to the needs of our current residents and working alongside staff to keep our shelter operational.
Weekly time commitment: 4 hour shift
Programs – Through our programs, we encourage opportunities for people to get to know one another. Volunteers help our programs to run smoothly and can include organizational tasks as well as intentional involvement to encourage safety and welcome for everyone who is involved. Our current program offerings are Norm’s Place, Euchre Tournaments and Sports Night.
Weekly time commitment: 2 hours
